Dog is man’s good friend it can understand the human’s spirit and obey its master. The Chinese regard it as an auspicious animal. If a dog happens to come to a house, it symbolizes the coming of fortune.

Welcome to this auspicious occasion as I begin these journals in the Year of the Dog. Dogs are my life, dogs are my joy, and dogs are my constant companions. I live with dogs and if that isn’t enough, I invite guest dogs into my home. How fun is that? While I don’t think I have any special powers or advanced knowledge or even training when it comes to dogs, experience and a special connection have served me well. I’ve been very fortunate in having mostly good and gracious guests. I’ve had very large guests and wee tiny guests, I’ve had nippers, barkers, and house poopers. Each in their own way bringing joy and laughter into my home. They are all loved and forgiven for any transgressions.

While not entirely sure the direction this journal journey will take, some of the ideas I have include interviews with dog guardians and companions, breed specific articles on health and behavior, and shared experiences. That’s where you come in, I’d love to hear your dog stories and experiences. Join the conversation, and who knows where the path will lead us.

The Chinese Horoscope 2018 predicts that this year of the Brown Earth Dog is going to be a good year in all respects, but it will also be an exhausting year. Here’s to the New Year!
